Sassy New Look – Glasses and Sky High Boots

Fashion Stylist - Lenya Jones

Skirt - American Apparel, Top - Calvin Klein, Sweater & Hat - Target, Boots - Witchery, Necklace - Bloomingdales, Handbag - Marc Jacobs

I found out not long ago that I needed glasses, not just reading glasses, but glasses for all the time.   And since I recently reviewed the new Alex Perry for SpecSavers line of glasses for Mecho.com, I decided to put my money where my mouth was a buy a pair.    I actually love them and can’t remember what my life was like before I started to wear them.  There are 21 lovely frames to choose from and this pair is from the Red Carpet collection.  You can find out more about the line by reading my article here or going to SpecSavers online here.

Yesterday was also the debut of my new boots from Witchery.  I wanted to break them in before Fashion Week.  I was a bit casual as it was raining cats and dogs in Sydney.  It’s getting chilly as well in Sydney but with rain I can’t break out my fantastic leather and feather jacket from Lucette.  Hopefully this rain will stop before Fashion Week next week, would be a shame to have wear rain gear and umbrellas.  With the Street Peeper and Susie Bubble  descending upon Sydney next week, I really want to look my Fashion Best.

Make sure you check back next week, I’ll have my new Ipad with me and will be updating the blog continuously as the shows happen.

Black Swan

Lenya Jones - Fashion Stylist

Wearing UnNaked Feather Shoulder Tee, Forever21 Feather Skirt and Master Slave Shoes

Last night was “Date Night”.  I kind of hate that term but in long term relationships, it ‘s necessary to have these kind of evenings.  Shane and I went to see Black Swan with Natalie Portman.  I saw it a few weeks ago with my bestie but it was soo amazing that I really needed to see it again.  The Story within the Story was incredible and Natalie Portman’s performance is truly Oscar worthy.

For this “special occasion” I decided to dress with the Black Swan theme in mind.  I purchased this feathered shoulder tee shirt last year from The Dirty Launderette which has now closed.  Thankfully you can still purchase UnNaked items from their website -
http://www.getunnaked.com
.  The skirt was the last purchase I made on my New York trip earlier this year.  My lovely brother gave me a gift voucher to Forever21 which I promptly used to purchase a few things before I left.  This Feather skirt is a perfect match with my tee for my Black Swan theme.  The only thing I’m missing is the Black Swan ring from Wendy Brandes that I wish I had.  You can purchase it here from her fantastic website.

If you haven’t seen the movie I suggest you rung out and see it now.  It is definitely an unforgettable experience.

Grunging the Camel

Last night was rainy and stormy in LA so Shane and I thought it was perfect for going to the movies.  We were right cause there was hardly anyone in the theatre but man was it scary driving there and back.

For our movie date night I thought I would dress down a bit but one of the only coats I brought to suit LA weather was my gorgeous new camel coloured Zara coat.  I paired it with some of my grungy gear and I think it worked.

Mixing High and Low at The Getty

Today I had an amazing Art experience.   It was one of those experiences when you see a piece of art that makes you stop,  almost knocks you off your feet, sometimes it even speaks to you.   Today I saw the most beautiful Degas painting.  It stopped me, nearly knocked me off my feet and spoke to me.  I was/am soo happy that it available in a Museum for everyone to enjoy.    It was a really special experience.  The day was made more special by having a fantastic lunch at the Museum’s restaurant.    Along with our amazing meal we had one of the best views in Los Angeles.

The museum was so amazing that Shane and I will have to take time to visit it again before we leave.

I’m Neutral

A couple of  months ago I shopped from the fantastic Inny Vinny’s shopping site.   From the minute they arrived I’ve been dying to wear all of these pieces.  The weather has been up and down and I haven’t been in the mood to wear deal with sandals in the rain.  Well the weather has broken and I raced at the chance to wear my new clogs.

I know I’m a little late to jump on the clogs band wagon but these ones are so very Miu Miu that I had to have them.  And everyone loves a good cape.  Can’t wait to rock these items on the other side of the pond.  Will be in the states soon, get in touch if you want to catch up.

Thanks Ms Inny Vinny for making my day.

Supporting Australian Designers Series – Zimmerman

Today I’m wearing a “suit” by Zimmerman. It’s not really a suit as such but I always seem to wear these two pieces together. Nicky and Simone Zimmerman are sisters who are the edgy designers. This Aussie label is sold all over the world and is one of Australia’s best fashion exports. I love the girly edgyness of all their pieces. You can buy them on their website here or Shopbop.com or Netaporter.com

Supporting Australian Designers Series – Nicola Finetti

I’ve been told lately that I don’t wear enough Aussie Designers.    So I’ve decided to start this new series on the blog in which I’ll showcase Aussie designers that I love to wear (not just love in general).  Today I wore a favourite dress in honour of the beautiful Spring weather Sydney is having.

Here is a little about the designer:    Nicola Finetti is an Italian born designer that migrated to Australia 1982.  He started his career as an Architect but upon moving to Sydney found that it was difficult to work in a country where he didn’t fully speak the language.  He began studying Fashion Design and started his own label in 1995.  Nicola’s clothing is at once extremely modern with an ultra feminine edge.

I love wearing this dress.  You can purchase Nicola Finetti online here.

Second Red Carpet – Tomorrow, When the War Began

Lenya Jones Fashion Stylist

Wearing Carl Kapp dress, Louboutin shoes, LV handbag, Shane wearing Arthur Galan Blazer, Master Slave shirt, GStar jeans, Florsheim shoes

Last night I had the great pleasure of walking the red carpet and seeing Tomorrow, When the War Began.    I can truly say it restored my faith in Aussie film.  Great production, the crew should be really proud.  And a big thank you to Anthony for getting Shane and I our tickets.  It was soo good to hang out with you and your beautiful lady Joanna.  I also want to send a super special thank you to Carl and Weihan of Carl Kapp for lending me this fantastic dress.

Bronte Saw Us

Today was such a lovely day.  There was sun in Sydney and we decided to go to Bronte Beach for a spot of lunch and do the Bondi to Bronte walk in reverse with Mr Matey.  I forgot to take photos on the walk but my lovely man did manage to get a photo of me and my boots before we left.

Last night Charmaine, Shane and I had one of those random nights out where were just going to have a quiet dinner at the pub and one drink out. It turned into a night of dinner, Chocolate Martinis in the Cross and random wierdos having crazy chats with us about ethnicity in Surry Hills. Not a bad night.
