Feeling the Wang

Yesterday I went on a sight recky with fantastic photographer Markus Van Driel. We visited an amazing beach that isn’t used very much in Sydney. That could be because it has a reputation for surf gang violence. The Bra Boys have given Maroubra a bit of a bad name.

Whilst wandering up and down the cliffs I got Markus to photograph me. I told him how much I LOVE Alexander Wang and that I tried to do an inexpensive version of one of my favourite looks from the Fall 2009 collection.

I love this look, the denim shirt with tailored black trousers and those fabulous shoes. In my version I trade the pants for ruched leggings and the shoes without the rings. I think this is going to be my new favourite outfit.

Rage against the Machine

I ‘ve had a few comments about my take on Glunge. I’ve been told it’s too much glamour not enough grunge. Today’s dressing adventure had me thinking about this. I decided to dress down a bit but still incorporate some glam. My boyfriend jeans, Stella copies and a motorcycle jacket were the go to pieces today. So did I do Glunge any better this time?

Feeling Blah

Today I didn’t have a “dressing adventure”. I was in a panic, I felt like crap from lack of sleep but I had 4 meetings back to back very early this morning. Today I dressed partly for the rainy cold weather and partly because I lack inspiration.
I’ve been feeling a bit low, the fashion industry is tough and I’m feeling a little down from all the rejection I’ve been getting lately. I need to develop a thicker skin.

Cougar induction night out and more on Glunge

Last night my wonderful fashion mentor had a birthday. She is now officially part of the Cougar Club as she is of that age but still looks so amazing that teenage boys go crazy for her.

Now because she is a an extreme Fashionista I knew I needed to be on my best fashion toes to play in her circles. As always when she puts together a soiree I meet the most amazing people and wonderful things happen.
So I’m still feeling the Glunge, leather skirt, studded belt and cut out boots. I found this leather skirt at General Pants by Don’t Ask Amanda and this belt at Supre. Now I have a short skirt and a long one. Need a fitted motorcycle jacket and then I will feel complete, well sort of, really need those Margiella cut out boots, then I’ll feel complete (till the next obsession hits).
Last night was a fun filled night filled with so much laughter. I had such a great time – ST you rock and happy birthday.

Presents from the BF and more copy adventures

Today’s dressing adventure started with my fantastic new boots. These are a great copy of the Gucci studded boots. They are by Tony Bianco purchased from the fabulous Maxx shoes on Bondi Beach. I LOVE them and heart my fantastic boyfriend for picking them up for me. Today I paired the boots with my old jeans, shirt sweater combo and my new GStar neoprene jacket – perfect for Bondi Beach.

Urban Cowgirl

Today’s dressing adventure started with my vintage Mambo cowboy shirt. I bought this shirt for $2 a long time ago at Zoo Emporium and have barely worn it. I thought it was appropriate for working at Uturn today. I’m feeling a bit country and western, the shirt is vintage and I’m working in a vintage shop, so it all fits in well. It’s a shame I have such a bad camera because you can’t see all the detailing on the shirt.

I didn’t realise my Request Jeans are Jeans made for black bootys but make my thighs look huge in relation to my upper half. Oh well you can’t have everything.

Midweek Banking

Tonight I went to the Bank in Newtown to hang out with one of my male identified lesbian friends. PH is so funny. He is a lesbian trapped in a gay man’s body and loves going to the girl bars and just hanging out. I indulged him tonight and went too.
Dressing to go to girly bars is hard for a girly girl like me. My dressing adventure started with my vintage studded belt. I knew whatever I wore tonight, this would be a feature. Old jeans, my new Marni boot copies and my Givenchy inspired necklace all made an appearance as well. I originally was going to wear this velvet blazer but I realised once I got outside that it was too hot and had to change but didn’t get time to take new photos. I wasn’t too out of place tonight and it’s always fun to hang out with PH.

Here is little Vernon who isn’t so little anymore. He is being re homed this week and I’m going to miss him.

I’m BACK!!

I’m sorry I’ve been scarce the past 3 weeks. Working on the film took a real toll on me. We have reached the half way mark and now things are slowing down and I have time to blog.

Today’s dressing adventure I think may change before the end of the day. The Summer that never was is over in Sydney. It was cold, rainy and miserable yesterday and this morning. I woke up to the rain pounding on my window and for a second I lamented on how crap this Summer was. I think we had about 20 beautiful days and that’s it.

I’ve been thinking about the 80′s a lot these days and all the fashion that is coming back. I’m a little embarrassed to say that I wore all these things the first time around. Galliano’s 80′s pirate inspired my socks today and Givenchy inspired the necklaces. I’ve received some strange looks all morning but I don’t care.

Now as I type this it’s getting warmer and the sun is out and I will have to change clothes when I venture out again (if the weather hasn’t changed back to dreary). I hate transitional changing weather!
Today’s outfit is brought to you by: Sweater – Old Navy, Singlet (under sweater) – Old Navy, Shorts – cut up old jeans from god knows when, Necklaces – all thrifted via Uturn, Bracelets – Diva, Socks – random sock kiosk in mall, Shoes – Melissa gum boots, Handbag – Nine West
