Bec & Bridge’s Violet Haze

Just saw the most gorgeous prints and sheer knits. Bec & Bridge is so on trend bringing gorgeous leather and suede shorts and belts with beautiful print tops and dresses. Love the gorgeous hats as well. I am forecasting a resurgence of hats this summer and I can’t wait!

RAFW 2010 Day Five – The Curtain Call

Last day of Fashion Week. It was with a little sadness and a whole lot of tiredness that I embarked on my last day at the OPT. Thank goodness it was light on the shows for us because I was about ready to drop from exhaustion.
We started our day with one the most gorgeous productions of the week, Miss Unkon show and collection was a fairy tale of absolute girlyness like nothing we have seen this week. There were beautiful flowers and butterflies hanging from the rafters, a darling little swing, and adorable hopscotch graph drawn on the floor. The clothing was a mix of girly casual outfits, using Miss Unkon’s collaboration with Levis and beautiful dresses that any girl would feel like a princess in.
Next up for us was my first ever Swimwear group show. I’ve been to several Fashion Weeks but always sit out this show. This week I was invited by designer Roopa Permaraju to her show. Roopa designs the most beautiful caftans you have ever seen. I wasn’t very impressed with all the swimwear. But Roopa made the show for me. I think I will have to own one of her designs, they were just that beautiful.
The last show of the day for us was the Annah Stretton show. Another Kiwi designer that I’m very impressed with. Her inspiration for this show was Brigitte Bardo and anything inspired by her is bound to be sexy and good. I wasn’t disappointed. Again a fabulous production where the designer didn’t forget her New Zealand roots. Each model came down the runway with little sheep in their hair. There were beautiful shorts with ruffles, gorgeous dresses and sexy crop tops.
So another RAFW has come and gone, with some hits and some misses. My favs this week: Zambesi Men’s, Gary Yang Collections, Sally Koeswanto, Alice McCall, Elliot Ward-Fear and Roopa Permaraju.

RAFW 2010 Day Four

Yesterday was one of my favourite days of RAFW. On the Thursday is the TAFE show where the top Fashion Design students show their stuff. I love the student shows because they are always creative productions with flair and showmanship. I was not disappointed. Every single one of the four students who presented their designs was amazing. I can’t single out any of them since I had favourite pieces in each collection. I will say that the Elliot Ward-Fear’s show was reminiscent of last years Gareth Puth with all the futuristic structure. He sent the models down the runway in amazing really high wedge ankle boots and even though most of them tripped and fell on the runway, I think it just added to the overall drama of the show.
After that amazing show, it was on to the first Swimwear show of the week. Kooey Australia is exactly what you envision gorgeous Aussie girls wearing while they are frolicking in the eternal sunshine that is Australia. Absolutely stunning pieces.
After Kooey, it was on to the most anticipated show of the week, St Augustines Academy. This collection was inspired by the television series True Blood. Alvin outdid himself this year and I’m really happy for him. It was a great collection of some of his classic shapes and wonderful new pieces. Especially love his women’s collection this year. Well done Alvin.
Wow, Fashion Week is almost over. It’s been an interesting week so far. We have seen a sea of white on the runway with a sea of black sitting around it. We have seen a return to beauty and girlyness. And have seen a continuation of gorgeous sky high heels. Today is the last day and I’ll be sad when it’s all over but for now I must run and get ready.

RAFW 2010 Day Three – All About Alice

Yesterday was the return to fashion week for Alice McCall. This much anticipated event was everything you could hope for and more. Alice sent gorgeous colourful creations down the runway all complimented by the fantastic make up designs by my fashion mentor Sarah Tammer.
The next show was another gorgeous sea of colour. Bianca Spender, a wonderful designer of lovely feminine clothing, sent beautiful dresses of white and blue down the runway. Clearly the trend for next summer is white, draping and femininity.
After morning of girlyness, it was time for the mixed Men’s and Women’s RTW group collection. These four streety labels did not disappoint. All the men’s looks were sexy streety funk that will definitely find it’s way to the streets of Sydney. Stand outs for me were Mawlai and UnNaked.
Yesterday was the start of the fashion parties for this fashion trinity. So after the RTW collection show we all ran home to get ready for the evening. It was a full on day with an even full on night. The Nana & Judy party, the UnNaked Party and the most random of them all the Wealth Creator Magazine launch party. A very interesting evening where I was shot, photoshoot style by the Daily Telegraph (I’m not kidding!). Unfortunately I don’t have photos of the evening but hopefully some will pop up in and around over the next few days.
All and all a very wonderful day.

RAFW 2010 Day Two

Yesterday was amazing, that is all I can really say. Yesterday my favourite designer Gary Yang had his first RAFW show and it was fantastic with a capital F. I love that he used beautiful pastel colours and gorgeous flattering shapes. Again I felt like I need to own 80% of the collection.

Gary show was part of the Women’s RTW collection show and alongside him were three other designers. The other stand out from that show was Sally Koeswanto, my Assistant Genesis described her as “the Queen of Nubia in leather with electric blues meets glamour grunge (glunge) meets fierce bitch!Basically that sums up the whole collection.

We finished off our day with Nicola Finetti which is always wonderful. He exemplifies femininity. Every dress sent down the runway would make any girl feel like a princess.

Yesterday was a very special day for me because I had with me not only my two wonderful Assistants but my lovely son and my fantastic new beau.

RAFW 2010 Day One

My lovely Assistants Genesis and Angelika accompanied me on day one of RAFW. It was really nice to have them with me this year. It’s nice to get different opinions on what we have just seen.
Our first show of the day was Lucette. This fantastic shop in Paddington stocks edgy biker chick chic. Every look that came down the runway was funky with leather and chains. I loved all of it for both myself and for my clients.
Our next show was Zambesi and even though today was just day one, I have a distinct feeling this will be one of my favs of the week. I LOVE Zambesi and they outdid themselves this year with their menswear. The show had a very farm like wool shed feel to it. The designers were going back to their New Zealand roots and sent chic but extremely wearable looks down the runway.
The last show of the day was Rachel Gilbert. I decided to sit this one out and let my lovely Assistants go. Instead I enjoyed champagne in the Cruise Bar and relaxed.
All and all a great day for Fashion. Sorry I don’t have photos ready yet. Will do a wrap up post at the end of the week with pics. But here are a few pics of all us and one taken by street style photographer Ichiro Taniguchi.
