Sensational Saturdays

Went to the Art Gallery of NSW, placed money in a piggy money-box for good fortune, watch shopping, dinner at the Dolphin, caught up with Markus, then drinks at the Trinity with Bingers and the girls.  Yeah, fun day.

Sourcing and the Side Ponytail

Today was my first day back on Styling trail. No longer distracted by the boring office job I can concentrate on new project which is a television commercial. Love the new Production company I’m working with and excited about the new work. Love that I get to source (shop!) for fantastic funky clothes and dress lovely real people instead of models. Makes a nice change.
Today I woke up invigorated and the first thing I saw in my email was from WhoWhatWear.com talking about the side ponytail.

Which reminded me of Wang’s Spring 2010 Show.
Which inspired me to do this.

Big Hat Hides Bad Hair

I’m fortunate to have several wonderful styling clients. Yesterday I had the extreme pleasure of working with one of my personal styling clients who is now going behind the lens to shoot a fantastic set of photos for her upcoming book. Roxy Lee is a blogger and TV host and now Author and has been one of my clients for a few months. Roxy is an amazing person, and has lived an fantastic life. I won’t ruin the story cause it will be in the book. Make sure you read her blogwww.roxylee.com.
Yesterday she shot me for the blog – Thanks Roxy.

Using Inspiration

Today’s dressing adventure saw me looking to Ms Diabolina of My Super Sweet Fashion Diaryfor inspiration. She posted about her love of skinny jeans. I started thinking about wearing jeans today and then I saw all the lovely photos of the people that inspired her look and decided I’m going to do my own interpretation.

Rage against the Machine

I ‘ve had a few comments about my take on Glunge. I’ve been told it’s too much glamour not enough grunge. Today’s dressing adventure had me thinking about this. I decided to dress down a bit but still incorporate some glam. My boyfriend jeans, Stella copies and a motorcycle jacket were the go to pieces today. So did I do Glunge any better this time?

The September Issue at the Sydney Film Festival

I finally got off the couch this afternoon and headed into town to watch the Sydney Film Festival premiere of The September Issue. Thanks Milena of I Love Wednesdays for suggesting we go cause it was amazing. Grace Coddington is a legend and an amazing stylist.  I can only hope that one day I live up to her standards.  After the movie IMG had a cocktail party but Milena and I didn’t have invites.  When we were leaving the theatre a wonderful woman came up to us and gave us two free passes cause she liked out outfits.  YAY!  Though the party was a bit of a dud, but it was a great night anyway.

Welcome to my office

Times are hard in Sydney at the moment. I’ve tried unsuccessfully for 2 months now to find a flatmate to share my apartment with. I’ve decided that I will work an extra to nights and keep the room for myself as an office. It’s a bit of an undertaking cause it will mean working a fair bit more and infringing on my shooting time but I feel that it’s a move in the right direction. Soon I’ll be working less at the store and shooting more for money and then it will all be worth it.
In the past my living room / lounge area served as my office and was always crowded with clothing, racks, bags and my kit. Not a great place to entertain. So here is my new office, and me posing like the happy girl that I am now in it.

Dressing up for a night out

I was invited to the Australian Photographer of the Year Awards and the BF and I decided to go. I usually don’t stress about things like this cause I love an excuse to dress up but tonight I just couldn’t get my fashion mojo to work. This resulted in me asking my boy to decide between three choices. Now this could have been a disaster as the boy wears only black, all the time with no variations. He is gorgeous but not the most creative dresser. Though in the end I think he made the right choice, we were photographed at the event and I was told by one of the organisers that I looked amazing. Not bad for no mojo.

Jumpsuits, Statement Necklaces & Geisha Shoes

Today’s dressing adventure is all over the shop. I acquired this jumpsuit last week and have already worn it (didn’t have time last week to blog about it). I decided it had to make another appearance as I’m going to be running around Fashion Stylist style today. Now I have to say that it’s hard with a capital H to pair up a vertical black and white striped jumpsuit with anything, I mean anything. So I found for the second time that I was trying on loads of things to try to make this piece work. I finally decided on this combo, jumpsuit, statement necklace and Geisha shoes.

I just need to point out that it’s not always a good thing to take three big trends and put them all in one look but I’m branching out in 2009 and saying break the rules.

Midweek Banking

Tonight I went to the Bank in Newtown to hang out with one of my male identified lesbian friends. PH is so funny. He is a lesbian trapped in a gay man’s body and loves going to the girl bars and just hanging out. I indulged him tonight and went too.
Dressing to go to girly bars is hard for a girly girl like me. My dressing adventure started with my vintage studded belt. I knew whatever I wore tonight, this would be a feature. Old jeans, my new Marni boot copies and my Givenchy inspired necklace all made an appearance as well. I originally was going to wear this velvet blazer but I realised once I got outside that it was too hot and had to change but didn’t get time to take new photos. I wasn’t too out of place tonight and it’s always fun to hang out with PH.

Here is little Vernon who isn’t so little anymore. He is being re homed this week and I’m going to miss him.
