Welcome to my office

Times are hard in Sydney at the moment. I’ve tried unsuccessfully for 2 months now to find a flatmate to share my apartment with. I’ve decided that I will work an extra to nights and keep the room for myself as an office. It’s a bit of an undertaking cause it will mean working a fair bit more and infringing on my shooting time but I feel that it’s a move in the right direction. Soon I’ll be working less at the store and shooting more for money and then it will all be worth it.
In the past my living room / lounge area served as my office and was always crowded with clothing, racks, bags and my kit. Not a great place to entertain. So here is my new office, and me posing like the happy girl that I am now in it.

Expecting the Unexpected

Today has been such a full on day. My dressing adventure started with CB coming over to discuss the final details of her EP launch tomorrow. After that meeting I had two others plus I had to pick up all the gear for the shoot. Lots to do and only a few hours in the day to do it with.
I started today’s dressing adventure with this one shoulder Marni inspired dress. I love all one shoulder items because they show off my tattoo. This dress isn’t too flattering when unbelted but I was in a flowy mood and didn’t feel like wearing a belt. It’s cold in Sydney so leggings and boots are a must.

Today Ms CB took my photos. I felt a bit silly posing for the ex-model (who really really knows how to work the camera).

Dressing up for a night out

I was invited to the Australian Photographer of the Year Awards and the BF and I decided to go. I usually don’t stress about things like this cause I love an excuse to dress up but tonight I just couldn’t get my fashion mojo to work. This resulted in me asking my boy to decide between three choices. Now this could have been a disaster as the boy wears only black, all the time with no variations. He is gorgeous but not the most creative dresser. Though in the end I think he made the right choice, we were photographed at the event and I was told by one of the organisers that I looked amazing. Not bad for no mojo.

Jumpsuits, Statement Necklaces & Geisha Shoes

Today’s dressing adventure is all over the shop. I acquired this jumpsuit last week and have already worn it (didn’t have time last week to blog about it). I decided it had to make another appearance as I’m going to be running around Fashion Stylist style today. Now I have to say that it’s hard with a capital H to pair up a vertical black and white striped jumpsuit with anything, I mean anything. So I found for the second time that I was trying on loads of things to try to make this piece work. I finally decided on this combo, jumpsuit, statement necklace and Geisha shoes.

I just need to point out that it’s not always a good thing to take three big trends and put them all in one look but I’m branching out in 2009 and saying break the rules.

Working at Uturn

When I do my shift at Uturn, I always feel like I should look a bit funky to match the shops eclectic mix of vintage and resale items. The boss like us to be a little alternative but that’s not really my style.
Today’s dressing adventure started with this top that I love and bought a while ago from Uturn. It’s a peasant top and reminds of that whole Russian Style thing that was happening a while ago. I also have missed my Jeffrey Campbell boots. They remind me of the Martin Margiela Cut Out boots that I wish I owned. How fabulous does Ms Sea of Shoes look in those super hot boots. Never mind, my Jeffrey Campbell ones are TDF and I love them.

Needing to get out of the house

This afternoon I realised that it was lunchtime and I was still in my bathrobe and Fed Ex was buzzing my door. Something had to be done. I couldn’t spend another day on the email and computer without seeing a little bit of the outside world.

Today’s dressing adventure saw me trying to find something warm and comfy to wear. The weather has turned to Autumn here in Sydney and one needs a jacket if they are going to venture outside. I also wanted to wear these fab boots that Solestruck.com so wonderfully sent me. They are BCBGirls and they are sooo hot. I can’t walk anywhere without someone stopping me to say how fab they are.

Pulled on the black True Religion jeans, a sweater (jumper to the Aussies) and this gorgeous hat that the BF bought me this weekend and off I went.

Bad picture day. Only 2 decent ones out of like 20. Not feeling glam when I have to force myself to get out of the house.

Meeting with the Mentor

Today’s dressing adventure may turn out to be a bad move. The weather in Sydney is very changeable. I’ve added a sweater (jumper for the aussies) in case it gets chilly.

I’m one of those types of women that when I get something new I have to wear it all the time. So the boots are having their first day out. I love them. The leather is soo soft. And I’m shocked on how stable I feel walking around in them considering how high the stiletto heel is.

I’m wearing my vintage ebay dress. I don’t know why I haven’t worn it more this summer. It is such a beautiful dress. Today’s I’ve paired it with my SATC studded belt to sass it up and the fab boots.

I had time on my hands while I wait for ST so I took a few silly photos.

Bad weather, cancelled shoots and looking in shops

Today’s dressing adventure was a strange one. It is really rainy and dreary at the moment in Sydney. When I got up to walk the dogs I really had to rug up to stay warm. I was ment to be working today so got dressed in Stylist mode. Then the shoot I was working on got cancelled because of the pending rain. Since I was all dressed with no where to go my assistant SS and I decided to have a look at the shops to get some inspiration for a future shoot.

I try to go out and look at what’s in store at least once a week and check out all the windows and who is shopping where and for what. Just a tip for Sydney Siders – Sequin Leggings – both Cotton On and Supre have inexpensive versions.

We walked for ages but it was a very productive day and I’m happy with all the shots we took of clothes to inspire us. After having such a crap morning, it turned out to be a productive afternoon ending in the Lounge with a fab glass of Pinot Noir.

Dreary Accounting Meetings and random photos from last night

Today’s dressing adventure saw me running to meet my Assistant at Uturn and picking up this awesome sequin jacket. I purchased, threw it on and ran to meet the accountant, never a great affair. He is lovely but I’ve come away feeling like I have so much more work to do and I’ll never be as organised as I need to be.

The jacket made me feel better even though it’s not a business expense so I really shouldn’t be buying it. But I can say that I’m trying to help stimulate the economy and that sort of justifies the $20.

I also must mention the most amazing thing – a couple of weeks ago I opened my email to receive the most amazing message from Solestruck.com offering me a pair of free shoes from their website. Offering me (the shoeaholic!!!) free shoes!! Of course I immediately wrote back and low and behold it’s all on the up and up and here are my fabulous boots by BCBGirls. Love Solestruck.com.

Oh and last plug – Portman’s has come up with their own version of the fab multi-chain Givenchy look that was so big last Fall. I really love this look so of course I had to have this necklace. I want it in gold too.

Jeans and juxtaposition

Today’s dressing adventure is all about these new jeans. I haven’t bought or worn a pair of jeans in ages, and I mean ages. I went to a random warehouse sale and I was able to get these fab True Religion jeans for a song. I paired the jeans with my vintage studded belt and Siren studded shoes, I’m loving the rock chick look at the moment.

The next item of focus is this fab jacket. I didn’t see if for ages sitting on the rack at Uturn and then one day last week while a customer was rifling through the shirts she came across this jacket and said to me, “isn’t this divine, too bad I don’t have the balls to pull it off”. Well, I have the balls and hopefully I’m pulling it off cause I LOVE this piece. I quickly took if off the rack and purchased it tres rapide.

I hope this combo of studs and lace works. Well it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks, cause I really love it.
