Grunging the Camel

Last night was rainy and stormy in LA so Shane and I thought it was perfect for going to the movies.  We were right cause there was hardly anyone in the theatre but man was it scary driving there and back.

For our movie date night I thought I would dress down a bit but one of the only coats I brought to suit LA weather was my gorgeous new camel coloured Zara coat.  I paired it with some of my grungy gear and I think it worked.

On the mend

I’m finally feeling better and Shane and I decided to take a walk through Paddington and shop around in Bondi Junction.  A lot of walking to do in these shoes but my feet survived.  Along the way I was stopped so many times by people to ask about my shoes.

Spring is in the air but not quite here yet.  Can’t wait to break out the light dresses and sandals.  Reading all the American fashion blogs has got me jealous.

Friday, Chloe Girl

Today’s dressing adventure started with the heat and dressing for meetings. It was 30 degrees Celsius, that’s about 86 Fahrenheit. So a relatively hot day for going out on a bus toDrummoyne and sitting for 2 hours in a meeting.

I’m working on a new movie project so as always the Wardrobe Department has to
look Fashion Fierce. I chose this outfit for Fashion Fierce Comfort, if there is
such a thing. Unfortunately I’m like a Chloe ad but I didn’t realise till I was
already half way to my destination. I must love the brand.

I also want to point out my new most favourite thing in the whole world – My necklace.
It was a wonderful gift from Leslie Safley Design. I’ve worn it nearly everyday.
Today at my meeting, the Associate Producer came up to me and told me how she
was drawn to my necklace and I knew exactly what she was talking about. I can wear
it as a choker or longer. I absolutely love it.

Properly Doing Posen

Last night the lovely Markus Van Driel took me as his handbag to the DLM Photographic exhibition at the Ivy. It was a very snazzy affair and I wanted to do it justice by wearing a proper cocktail ensemble.
The last time I wore this dress was to the FLS First Birthday High Tea and a few things went wrong. It was too cold so I had to wear a coat and pantyhose, and the shoes I chose were too chunky for the dress. This time I wanted to do Mr Posen properly so I paired the dress with simple accessories, actually no accessories except earrings and a clutch purse.
I love this dress, it is so classic. I feel like Audrey Hepburn without the big glasses and hat.

Little Frills

I realised I haven’t done an outfit post for a bit so today I had my lovely Assistant Marlies take a photo of me. We have been engaged in a fantastic project that I will talk about a later stage.

Feeling the Wang

Yesterday I went on a sight recky with fantastic photographer Markus Van Driel. We visited an amazing beach that isn’t used very much in Sydney. That could be because it has a reputation for surf gang violence. The Bra Boys have given Maroubra a bit of a bad name.

Whilst wandering up and down the cliffs I got Markus to photograph me. I told him how much I LOVE Alexander Wang and that I tried to do an inexpensive version of one of my favourite looks from the Fall 2009 collection.

I love this look, the denim shirt with tailored black trousers and those fabulous shoes. In my version I trade the pants for ruched leggings and the shoes without the rings. I think this is going to be my new favourite outfit.

Birthday Celebrations

Today was my birthday and I had a wonderful day out with my bestie. He took me to a fancy schmancy lunch in town and I wanted to dress up. I thought about being age appropriate but couldn’t figure out what that was so I just decided to do what I always do and dress however I feel. Today I took inspiration (again) from Ms Diabolina. This photo appeared in her post.

And I thought to myself “this is a look I can do.” So I threw on my Alice McCall dress, my leather moto jacket and my new Alexander Wang copies by Tony Bianco and made my way out the door. Love Ms Diabolina – she is my fashion Shero.

New diggs Old clothes

I have finally become one of those women who goes everywhere with their dog. I went to visit a PR agency and the rep (whom I never met before) takes a look at my business card and says “I know you, you are the stylist who takes your dog everywhere with you.” Should I be embarrassed? I’m still trying to figure that out.
I’m all settled into my new place and LOVE it. I have the most amazing closet, it takes a whole wall in my bedroom. Will be doing a closet post ala Sharon Rose. In the meantime I’ve taken my first set of photos in my new place.

Fat Jeans & Stripes

Yesterday’s fashion adventure was a bit of a mish mash. I went to put on my skinny jeans only to realise that I’ve put on a few kilos and don’t fit them. YIKES! So I had to put on my fat jeans which is always a bummer. I don’t know what possessed me to put on stripes which of course is supposed to make you look fatter but I did. I was loving myself sick in the morning when I took these photos but am now thinking it was a big mistake. Oh well you can’t get it right everyday.

Stripes are inspirational

Today’s dressing adventure took inspiration from the movie “Coco Avant Chanel”. There is a scene when Coco Chanel is watching fisherman bring in their fishing hauls and she is admiring their striped jumpers. She then makes one for herself solidifying the love of stripes by French women.

For some strange reason I dreamt this scene and woke up knowing that I would wear this sweater and jeans. I threw in the vintage scarf and my polka dot wedges and voila I feel very Coco avant Chanel.
