Black Swan

Lenya Jones - Fashion Stylist

Wearing UnNaked Feather Shoulder Tee, Forever21 Feather Skirt and Master Slave Shoes

Last night was “Date Night”.  I kind of hate that term but in long term relationships, it ‘s necessary to have these kind of evenings.  Shane and I went to see Black Swan with Natalie Portman.  I saw it a few weeks ago with my bestie but it was soo amazing that I really needed to see it again.  The Story within the Story was incredible and Natalie Portman’s performance is truly Oscar worthy.

For this “special occasion” I decided to dress with the Black Swan theme in mind.  I purchased this feathered shoulder tee shirt last year from The Dirty Launderette which has now closed.  Thankfully you can still purchase UnNaked items from their website - http://www.getunnaked.com.  The skirt was the last purchase I made on my New York trip earlier this year.  My lovely brother gave me a gift voucher to Forever21 which I promptly used to purchase a few things before I left.  This Feather skirt is a perfect match with my tee for my Black Swan theme.  The only thing I’m missing is the Black Swan ring from Wendy Brandes that I wish I had.  You can purchase it here from her fantastic website.

If you haven’t seen the movie I suggest you rung out and see it now.  It is definitely an unforgettable experience.

Tribute to Ms Wendy B

Last week Ms Wendy B did a post on how her classic blogger pose has been stolen by 5th Avenue Fashionistas that were being photographed by Bill Cunningham.   Commenters on the post suggested that she do a tribute post with other bloggers sending in their version of the Classic Wendy B pose.  Of course I jumped at the chance.

Wearing Lanvin for the Opera House

This weekend Shane and I went to the Sydney Opera House to see the most entertaining show.  We saw the Wau Wau Sisters in a show entitled “The Last Supper” as part of the Sydney Festival.  This fantastic show had everything from comedy to acrobatics to music.  If you are in Sydney I highly recommend trying to get tickets, not only is the show a lot of fun, it’s in the most beautiful venue on this side of the hemisphere.    The Sydney Opera House with it’s gorgeous view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and it’s fantastic restaurants is housed in the most amazing building.

For this occasion I decided to break out the Lanvin for H&M dress that I received as one of my Christmas presents from my AMAZING man.  I have to admit that I wasn’t too impressed with the collection.  Not only were the designs a bit off but they were poorly made.  But saying that, I really fell in love with this dress.  I paired it funky accessories like my fantastic Wendy Brandes NYC rings and my Prada copies by Rubi shoes.

I was such a beautiful night.  I wished I took my camera, the sunset over the bridge was spectacular.

Grunging the Camel

Last night was rainy and stormy in LA so Shane and I thought it was perfect for going to the movies.  We were right cause there was hardly anyone in the theatre but man was it scary driving there and back.

For our movie date night I thought I would dress down a bit but one of the only coats I brought to suit LA weather was my gorgeous new camel coloured Zara coat.  I paired it with some of my grungy gear and I think it worked.

Sydney Weekend With The New Camera

So I am LOVING my new camera.  I have taken it every where with me and have taken nearly 1000 photos this weekend.  It was a great weekend, started Friday night with dinner at Nandos, took a mini photoshoot with my fantastic new Wendy Brandes NYC rings, got my toes done, took in the Cezanne exhibit at the AGNSW, lunched at the Queen Victoria Building, hung out at the Westfield in the Junction and ended with me making pikelets for my fantastic Assistants.

Why I love Wendy Brandes Jewellery

As my regular readers will know, I purchased earlier this year the Wendy Brandes Swear Rings, which I love and have worn here and here.

Well not long ago Ms Brandes designed a new piece to add to the collection, The Asterisk Ring. Of course I had to have this new piece. Now I can replace my F and just wear all symbols and let everyone guess which swear word I’m thinking about that day.

I can’t wait to wear this baby out.
And for all you SATC 2 fans, you can purchase The Cleopatra Earrings designed by Ms Brandes and worn by Samantha on Wendy Brandes’ website – http://www.wendybrandes.com/

RAFW 2010 Day Three – All About Alice

Yesterday was the return to fashion week for Alice McCall. This much anticipated event was everything you could hope for and more. Alice sent gorgeous colourful creations down the runway all complimented by the fantastic make up designs by my fashion mentor Sarah Tammer.
The next show was another gorgeous sea of colour. Bianca Spender, a wonderful designer of lovely feminine clothing, sent beautiful dresses of white and blue down the runway. Clearly the trend for next summer is white, draping and femininity.
After morning of girlyness, it was time for the mixed Men’s and Women’s RTW group collection. These four streety labels did not disappoint. All the men’s looks were sexy streety funk that will definitely find it’s way to the streets of Sydney. Stand outs for me were Mawlai and UnNaked.
Yesterday was the start of the fashion parties for this fashion trinity. So after the RTW collection show we all ran home to get ready for the evening. It was a full on day with an even full on night. The Nana & Judy party, the UnNaked Party and the most random of them all the Wealth Creator Magazine launch party. A very interesting evening where I was shot, photoshoot style by the Daily Telegraph (I’m not kidding!). Unfortunately I don’t have photos of the evening but hopefully some will pop up in and around over the next few days.
All and all a very wonderful day.

NYFW Day 1 – Mixed Bag

Yesterday was my first day and it was a mixed bag. Saw 5 shows and went to Wendy B’s fabulous Valentines Jewellery Sale.
I’m new to trying to take photos of the show while trying to write comments about the clothes. Here are a few picks from today.

I walked in to see this couple in crazy outfits.

The line to get into Duckie Brown
Duckie Brown – interesting men’s fashion

This is what was sitting in front of me at the Ports 1961 show – so please excuse crappy photos
Port 1961 Show – Very innovative for a label that usually doesn’t take great risks.

Rolando Santana above – AMAZING women’s collection – Ladies bookmark this man -he is going to go far.

Oumlil Menswear show – The best show of the day for me. LOVED everything and especially meeting Mark Indelicato from Ugly Betty.

The Farah Angsana show was my last official show of the day. I thought the concept of the dresses were beautiful but they were badly tailored (this was told to me by another blogger sitting closer). It was agreed that if she had less looks and concentrated on just those few then it would have been a little better

I’m sad to say that I was having way to much fun at Wendy B’s Valentines sale to whip out the camera and take photos. But I promise at Monday’s Blogger conference I will be like the paparazzi taking photos of all the famous bloggers that will be in attendance.
On to my way now to day 2. Let’s see what today brings.
