Grunging the Camel

Last night was rainy and stormy in LA so Shane and I thought it was perfect for going to the movies.  We were right cause there was hardly anyone in the theatre but man was it scary driving there and back.

For our movie date night I thought I would dress down a bit but one of the only coats I brought to suit LA weather was my gorgeous new camel coloured Zara coat.  I paired it with some of my grungy gear and I think it worked.

On the mend

I’m finally feeling better and Shane and I decided to take a walk through Paddington and shop around in Bondi Junction.  A lot of walking to do in these shoes but my feet survived.  Along the way I was stopped so many times by people to ask about my shoes.

Spring is in the air but not quite here yet.  Can’t wait to break out the light dresses and sandals.  Reading all the American fashion blogs has got me jealous.

Stripes are inspirational

Today’s dressing adventure took inspiration from the movie “Coco Avant Chanel”. There is a scene when Coco Chanel is watching fisherman bring in their fishing hauls and she is admiring their striped jumpers. She then makes one for herself solidifying the love of stripes by French women.

For some strange reason I dreamt this scene and woke up knowing that I would wear this sweater and jeans. I threw in the vintage scarf and my polka dot wedges and voila I feel very Coco avant Chanel.

Urban Cowgirl

Today’s dressing adventure started with my vintage Mambo cowboy shirt. I bought this shirt for $2 a long time ago at Zoo Emporium and have barely worn it. I thought it was appropriate for working at Uturn today. I’m feeling a bit country and western, the shirt is vintage and I’m working in a vintage shop, so it all fits in well. It’s a shame I have such a bad camera because you can’t see all the detailing on the shirt.

I didn’t realise my Request Jeans are Jeans made for black bootys but make my thighs look huge in relation to my upper half. Oh well you can’t have everything.

Midweek Banking

Tonight I went to the Bank in Newtown to hang out with one of my male identified lesbian friends. PH is so funny. He is a lesbian trapped in a gay man’s body and loves going to the girl bars and just hanging out. I indulged him tonight and went too.
Dressing to go to girly bars is hard for a girly girl like me. My dressing adventure started with my vintage studded belt. I knew whatever I wore tonight, this would be a feature. Old jeans, my new Marni boot copies and my Givenchy inspired necklace all made an appearance as well. I originally was going to wear this velvet blazer but I realised once I got outside that it was too hot and had to change but didn’t get time to take new photos. I wasn’t too out of place tonight and it’s always fun to hang out with PH.

Here is little Vernon who isn’t so little anymore. He is being re homed this week and I’m going to miss him.

Day to night the freelance way

So glad to not work in an office anymore. I can wear what I want now no matter how outrageous. Tonight I have dinner for the lovely Tally and then on to another friends birthday drinks. A lot to do and no time to go home and change.
I was saving this fab vintage 1980s Karen Merkel dress for something, (I don’t know what) but decided this morning that I must wear it. No use in it just sitting in my closet when it’s so absolutely fabulous.
I was walking down the street and a woman stopped me and told me that I looked like I stepped out of the pages of Vogue – she couldn’t have paid me a better compliment. I’ve been beaming ever since.

It was another good picture day – choose 5.

It’s all about the Stripes

Today’s dressing adventure is another cold one. The chill in the air is constant today, even when the sun is out.

I bought this dress a month ago in preparation for winter thinking I wouldn’t wear it for quite some time but here we are in March and I’m pulling it out of the closet and using leggings as well.

I love stripes, I own a lot of striped things. I know it has something to do with me being a francophile. I love the images of French women in striped sweaters with lovely scarves casually tied around their necks.

I must take a moment to talk about these amazing shoes. They are Gucci copies from Siren. I think I may need to buy the boots too. They are FAB. At the Mardi Gras parade I was stopped twice and asked where did I purchase my Gucci booties since they aren’t available in Sydney yet. I just winked and said nothing, why tell them they are Siren when they so clearly can pass for the real thing. I LOVE them.

Warm Weather Days

Today’s dressing adventure began with me continuing my quest to wear all my shoes, not just the favourites or newbies.

Today I’m wearing a pair by Urban Soul that I bought last year at a sample sale last year. I liked the straw detailing, very summery.

This dress is one that I bought a while ago from the sale bin at Zoo Emporium for $8. I’ve never worn it because it’s really big and needs tailoring. I belted it and bunched up the excess in the back like a bustle. Doesn’t look too bad but will need to get it fixed before I wear it again.

Be careful when you walk

Today’s dressing adventure wasn’t really an adventure since I woke up and hadn’t a clue what I wanted to wear. I walked the dogs, had a coffee and took a shower and still had no inspiration (could be that today’s things returned to normal at work but I could be wrong).

I definitely wanted to wear these shoes so I knew it would be another black and white day. This dress is one of the easiest things to wear so the rest fell into place. I have to say that this new jacket is great. Have worn it pretty much every day since I bought it.

A special thanks to all the guest photographers who have filled in for Jo over the holidays.
** UPDATE – I have rolled my ankle and am limping in my fab shoes. Not a good look.

Another day in the office

KG and I are the only ones on our floor today. It’s very very quiet. I wish I were home, I have a few shoots to research for January and I can’t get inspired to do it here.

Today’s dressing adventure started with me an this wonderful scarf tie thing. I purchased it last weekend for $4 from Zoo Emporium. I love that it can be worn as a belt, scarf, tie or whatever your imagination lets you do. A classic white shirt and a simple skirt and viola, an outfit is made.
