Sassy New Look – Glasses and Sky High Boots

Fashion Stylist - Lenya Jones

Skirt - American Apparel, Top - Calvin Klein, Sweater & Hat - Target, Boots - Witchery, Necklace - Bloomingdales, Handbag - Marc Jacobs

I found out not long ago that I needed glasses, not just reading glasses, but glasses for all the time.   And since I recently reviewed the new Alex Perry for SpecSavers line of glasses for Mecho.com, I decided to put my money where my mouth was a buy a pair.    I actually love them and can’t remember what my life was like before I started to wear them.  There are 21 lovely frames to choose from and this pair is from the Red Carpet collection.  You can find out more about the line by reading my article here or going to SpecSavers online here.

Yesterday was also the debut of my new boots from Witchery.  I wanted to break them in before Fashion Week.  I was a bit casual as it was raining cats and dogs in Sydney.  It’s getting chilly as well in Sydney but with rain I can’t break out my fantastic leather and feather jacket from Lucette.  Hopefully this rain will stop before Fashion Week next week, would be a shame to have wear rain gear and umbrellas.  With the Street Peeper and Susie Bubble  descending upon Sydney next week, I really want to look my Fashion Best.

Make sure you check back next week, I’ll have my new Ipad with me and will be updating the blog continuously as the shows happen.

I’m Neutral

A couple of  months ago I shopped from the fantastic Inny Vinny’s shopping site.   From the minute they arrived I’ve been dying to wear all of these pieces.  The weather has been up and down and I haven’t been in the mood to wear deal with sandals in the rain.  Well the weather has broken and I raced at the chance to wear my new clogs.

I know I’m a little late to jump on the clogs band wagon but these ones are so very Miu Miu that I had to have them.  And everyone loves a good cape.  Can’t wait to rock these items on the other side of the pond.  Will be in the states soon, get in touch if you want to catch up.

Thanks Ms Inny Vinny for making my day.

Supporting Australian Designers Series – Zimmerman

Today I’m wearing a “suit” by Zimmerman. It’s not really a suit as such but I always seem to wear these two pieces together. Nicky and Simone Zimmerman are sisters who are the edgy designers. This Aussie label is sold all over the world and is one of Australia’s best fashion exports. I love the girly edgyness of all their pieces. You can buy them on their website here or Shopbop.com or Netaporter.com

Bronte Saw Us

Today was such a lovely day.  There was sun in Sydney and we decided to go to Bronte Beach for a spot of lunch and do the Bondi to Bronte walk in reverse with Mr Matey.  I forgot to take photos on the walk but my lovely man did manage to get a photo of me and my boots before we left.

Last night Charmaine, Shane and I had one of those random nights out where were just going to have a quiet dinner at the pub and one drink out. It turned into a night of dinner, Chocolate Martinis in the Cross and random wierdos having crazy chats with us about ethnicity in Surry Hills. Not a bad night.

SATC 2 Gold Class

On Wednesday I had the ultimate pleasure of seeing the Sex and the City sequel Gold Class with my flatmate and a few of my old Westfield cronies. For those of you in the rest of world that don’t have the pleasure of knowing what Gold Class is, please allow me or rather Event Cinema to explain:

Gold Class is the ultimate world of cinema luxury. As you enter into the exclusive Gold Class lounge you will be greeted by one of our friendly staff welcoming you to this ultimate experience. The Gold Class theatre is an intimate setting that seats no more than 30-54 people where guests can relax in the comfort of plush reclining chairs. A delicious food & beverage menu provides a fantastic selection to add to your experience and one of our waiters will bring this into to you while you enjoy the movie – just make sure you keep room to enjoy one of our signature sundaes!

It all started with our special Gold Class tickets that allows you into the cinema and ends with you being ushered into the cinema to watch your movie in pure luxury.

My review – I loved it. I can’t understand what the critics are on about. I thought the movie tackled some interesting topic, marriage, motherhood, sexuality, gay marriage and relationships, and cultural differences. I may not agree with all of the statements made but I applaud the Producers for making them. The fashion was great, as expected, and I loved seeing Wendy Brandes Cleopatra earrings on Samantha, (I told the whole audience prior to the movie to keep a look out for them so there was a collective gasp when they finally showed up on the screen.) I loved the movie and the decadent way in which I got to view it.

RAFW 2010 Day Four

Yesterday was one of my favourite days of RAFW. On the Thursday is the TAFE show where the top Fashion Design students show their stuff. I love the student shows because they are always creative productions with flair and showmanship. I was not disappointed. Every single one of the four students who presented their designs was amazing. I can’t single out any of them since I had favourite pieces in each collection. I will say that the Elliot Ward-Fear’s show was reminiscent of last years Gareth Puth with all the futuristic structure. He sent the models down the runway in amazing really high wedge ankle boots and even though most of them tripped and fell on the runway, I think it just added to the overall drama of the show.
After that amazing show, it was on to the first Swimwear show of the week. Kooey Australia is exactly what you envision gorgeous Aussie girls wearing while they are frolicking in the eternal sunshine that is Australia. Absolutely stunning pieces.
After Kooey, it was on to the most anticipated show of the week, St Augustines Academy. This collection was inspired by the television series True Blood. Alvin outdid himself this year and I’m really happy for him. It was a great collection of some of his classic shapes and wonderful new pieces. Especially love his women’s collection this year. Well done Alvin.
Wow, Fashion Week is almost over. It’s been an interesting week so far. We have seen a sea of white on the runway with a sea of black sitting around it. We have seen a return to beauty and girlyness. And have seen a continuation of gorgeous sky high heels. Today is the last day and I’ll be sad when it’s all over but for now I must run and get ready.
